Seek Nature.
A 2 hour, 6 km return walk through eucalypt and rain forest, past waterfalls, along rocky headlands and along the beach in Glenrock State Conservation Area (SCA), followed by a harbourside lunch at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club.
Glenrock SCA is over 530 hectares of Awabakal country, on the edge of the City of Newcastle. The area includes a range of landforms including ridges, waterfalls and beaches, and vegetation communities including littoral rainforest, coastal heath and eucalypt forests. The area has a rich Aboriginal and European history.
On this exclusive guided walk, ARTC 2023 delegates will:
- Explore how the underlying geology has shaped the landscape in Glenrock – from rainforest gullies, to spotted gum forests and coastal heath.
- Escape to nature from everyday life amongst cascades and waterfalls, forests, beaches and beautiful views.
- Experience the different plant communities and the birds and animals that thrive there, the use of resources by Aboriginals and Europeans, and conservation issues.
The meeting point for our tour is at Wheeler Place / Civic Theatre from 9 to 9.30am, where you will be met by our guides Phil and Cressida. Here you'll be able to compare notes over lunch with other delegates returning from their adventures.
Your ticket price includes local tour guides, snacks during the walk, lunch at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club, and bus transport from Wheeler Place / Civic Theatre to the walk start / finish and return to the yacht club.
